Spraying Operations

 

 

___ Is adequate ventilation assured before spray operations are started?

___ Is mechanical ventilation provided when spraying operations are done in enclosed areas?

___ When mechanical ventilation is provided during spraying operations, is it so arranged that it will not circulate the contaminated air?

___ Is the spray area free of hot surfaces?

___ Is the spray area at least twenty feet from flames, sparks, operating electrical motors and other ignition sources?

___ Are portable lamps used to illuminate spray areas suitable for use in a hazardous location?

___ Is approved respiratory equipment provided and used when appropriate during spraying operations?

___ Do solvents used for cleaning have a flash point to 100 degrees F or more?

___ Are fire control sprinkler heads kept clean?

___ Are "NO SMOKING" signs posted in spray areas, paint rooms, paint booths, and paint storage areas?

___ Is the spray area kept clean of combustible residue?

___ Is space within the spray booth on the downstream and upstream sides of filters protected with approved automatic sprinklers?

___ Is the frontal area greater than nine (9) square feet requiring a metal deflector or curtain not less than 2 1/2 inches deep installed at the upper outer edge of the booth over the opening?

___ Is the spray booth separated from other operations by not less than 3 feet?
