The Cornell University Campus is home to numerous machine shops within every department. These shops range from small building maintenance shops to student education and research shops to our large planning, design, & construction shops. In an effort to assist with maintaining these areas as safe and healthful work places, Cornell’s Department of Environmental Health and Safety has initiated a shop safety program. This program takes a team approach to shop safety and focuses its efforts on safety education for those individuals who regularly work in shop areas. EH&S can provide these individuals with free work place hazard assessments, education on machine guarding techniques and the use of hand and power tools, as well as helping to prioritize the abatement of existing hazards. For more information on this program and it’s services, please contact EH&S at 255-8200.
